Meet the Nixanti

PERSONALITY
Most other species regard Nixanti as aggressive, harsh, and xenophobic, but also capable of great cleverness and cunning. Nixanti prefer to deal with others from positions of strength whenever possible, whether that strength be military, intellectual or social.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Humanoids, Nixanti possess a wide variety of skin tones and colors amongst males, while females are usually very different and white-skinned. Males skin ranges from green to blue to plain white, and they possess an exoskeleton over their spine. Females, on the other hand, are quite attractive to other species, and don't possess the exoskeleton. They are as tall as but slightly heavier and more muscled than Humans.

HOMEWORLD
Nixxia, the third of six planets orbiting the star Noshan.

CULTURE
The Nixanti possess a rich, vibrant culture, based on the laws derived from ancient Laws passed from generation to generation. Their society puts heavy importance on social status and position, and it's divided into two main groups: Nobleborn (Kotosha) and Commoners (Arosha).
Rules of Nixanti society revolve around Four Sacred Laws, given by their profet and demi-god Alarei in person thousands of years ago.
The First Law (grammorkai) outlines Nixanti relationships between themselves, even if it now applies to alien relationships as well. Nixanti take great pride in their own code of honor, and they will do everything they can to look honorable to other species.
The Second Law (numokai) describes relationships between Nixxia's government and military personnel. Some observers note that Nixxia never suffered a civil war or any coup-d'etat because of this Law.
The Third Law (satakai) defines the principles of Nixanti religion. Almost every Nixanti believes in the Seven Gods and their prophet Alarei, although more and more people, especially amongst younglings, are now questioning some parts of their religious education.
The Fourth Law (jenokkai) enumerates the privileges and responsibilities of Nixanti-Kotosha.

As for the Numokai rule, the military dominate Nixxia.

Sometimes harsh and aggressive, after discovering FTL speed the Nixanti quickly started an imperialistic campaign on habitable worlds within a few light years from their home planet. Their first encounter with the Humans led to an sixteen-year-long war. Similarly, they approached their early encounters with the Fuminoid with suspicion and mistrust, perhaps seeing them as a competitor for resources and hindrance on their ability to expand.

This militaristic culture defines a Nixanti's social status, even though an Arosha can never be raised to Kotosha status. However, their culture puts great value on personal skills and talent, and it's not uncommon in recent times that Nixanti-Arosha command units of Nixanti-Kotosha.

Nixanti society is also a patriarcal one. Males command over females most of the time, even though that's also influenced by social status. Women have the same rights of men on paper, but they need to work twice to earn the same respect and responsibilities of their male counterparts. This is called "res'jan", and it's a principle that states that every female has to kneel down to a man if they ask to, but only if the man outranks the female in both social and military rank.
While the res'jan has been declared illegal by Yomi Alliance laws and more and more people refuse to kneel down, the grammorkai is quite specific in which is the most honorable attitude towards it.
As a result, the res'jan is still followed by some Nixanti Alliance officers.

FAVORED PROFESSION: Security Officers.
Most Nixanti proudly serve the Nixanti Military, thwarting enemy aggression and extending the boundaries of their empire through exploration and conquest. As members of Yomi Alliance, though, each new colony has to be established with Fuminoid and Human approval first. While the Alliance rarely opposes a Nixanti colony on an empty, habitable world, there have been some issues when Nixanti claims landed on previously-occupied worlds such as Charma IV.
While the grammorkai bounds Nixanti to always recognize their treaties, some fringes of the Nixanti Military have been expressing concerns over something that's perceived as "undue interference in Nixxia's business".
