Combat System Overhaul


Greetings fellow space officers.

One of biggest prides is to always listen to players' feedback, and whenever it's possible to try and add to the game what they suggest and ask.

That's why I started working on a Combat System overhaul for the game.

Let's say it: the combat system used right now it's not fun, and sucks more than a little. Of course, being the game in Alpha stage allows me to completely redo it from scratch, and with some new nice features.

First of all, you will have full control on the action, by choosing which kind of attack to perform, which weapon to use and also if and how to use special powers and skills such as "Psionics" and others.



Every skill available will change accordingly with your profession, skillset and proficiency. This means that an engineer won't likely got the option to use a Heavy Laser Rifle, while a doctor will heal himself more by using a medkit as opposite of a security guard. First Aid training will improve the number of Hit Points recovered by using a medkit, for example.

Also, every profession will have one or more "combat skills" (the screenshots are showing the "Diplomacy" one) which will be granted provided you reach a certain number of skill points in a given class (that's why attending classes is important. The Combat Skills are tied to your profession as well, so a Science Officer will likely receive an "Enemy Scan" feature to show weak points, or a Counselor could use a "Psychological Trick", while an Engineer could use a "Hacking" skill and so on...



New fights have been added in the game, whereas they were only lines of text. One of them will have you face The Prophet and his soldiers, provided you chose to fight against them. More fighting situations will be added in the game, to allow you to use your hard-earned skills in different tasks, both aboard a starship and on ground duty.

Update 0.0.20 will introduce this feature in a few weeks. All the screenshots are a work in progress and will likely change in appearance before the final release.
